German GS certification

2020/4/3 16:55:10

GS means "Geprufte Sicherheit" or "Germany Safety" in German. GS certification is based on the German Equipment and Product Safety Act (GPSG), a voluntary certification for finished products tested according to the European Union standard EN or the German industry standard DIN. The GS logo indicates that the safety of the product has passed the tests of credible independent institutions and is in line with European standards and German national standards. The GS logo, while not legally required, does subject manufacturers to strict German (European) product safety laws in the event of an accident resulting from a malfunction. Therefore, GS logo is a powerful marketing tool, which can enhance customers' confidence and purchase desire. Although GS is the German standard, most countries in Europe agree. In addition, while meeting the requirements of GS certification, the product will also meet the requirements of the CE mark of the European Community. Unlike CE, GS logo is not mandatory by law, but as a result of safety awareness has penetrated into the average consumer, a GS logo of the electrical appliances in the market is often more competitive than the general certification products.

GS certification scope

GS certification mark applies to a wide range of products, mainly for direct contact with people products for electrical products include: 1. Household appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines, kitchen appliances. Electronic toys. 3. Sporting goods.

4. Household electronic equipment, such as audio-visual equipment and lamps. 5. Household machinery.

Electrical and electronic office equipment such as photocopiers, fax machines, shredders, computers, printers, etc. 7. Communication products.

Information required for GS certification

1. Parts list

- fill in the standard form of parts list

- this list includes the product model, manufacturer, part number and related parameters (current, voltage, power, flame resistance level, etc.) of all parts.

- for components with safety certification, such as power cord, plug, switch, thermostat, insurance-risk pipe, please provide a copy of the European certification certificate. For safety-related parts, if not certified, please provide technical parameters, including product model, manufacturer, rated current, voltage, operating temperature, etc., for our random test.

2. Components in contact with food (if any)

Please provide the food hygiene license issued by the authority for the material (plastic, coating, etc.).

3. The name plate

German, according to our sample, screen printing or PVC adhesive, paste on the specified parts of the product

4. The circuit diagram

5. Circuit board drawing - please indicate the actual size

7. Final prototype

GS certification process

1. First meeting: through the first meeting, the testing institution or the agency will explain to the applicant's product engineer the specific procedures of certification and related standards, and provide the documents and forms to be submitted.

2. Application: the applicant shall submit the documents that meet the requirements. For electrical products, it is necessary to submit the final assembly drawing, electrical schematic diagram, material list, product use or installation instructions, and the differences between the series models.

3. Technical meeting: after the testing institution has checked the documents of the applicant, a technical meeting will be arranged with the technical personnel of the applicant.

4. Sample testing: testing will be carried out in accordance with the applicable standards and may be carried out in the manufacturer's laboratory or in any of the national laboratories of the inspection institution. 5. Factory inspection: the GS certification requires a safety-related inspection of the production site. 6. Issue GS certificates.

GS safety certification mark

1. GS mark is a safety certification mark issued by TUV, VDE and other organizations authorized by the German ministry of labor.

GS logo is the safety logo accepted by the majority of customers in Europe. GS certified products usually sell at a higher unit price and are more popular. The GS logo is the name or logo of the certification body added next to the uniform logo.

2. Ec CE regulation, 1997.1.1. Starting from the regulation of "low voltage directive (LVD)", GS has included all the requirements of "low voltage directive (LVD)". Therefore, after obtaining the GS mark, TUV will issue the CE certificate (COC) of the product LVD for free, and the certificate of TUV Rheinland after 1997 contains the LVD certificate in the GS certificate. The manufacturer obtained the LVD certificate when applying for GS.

3. Requirements for products and documents for GS certification: - products shall pass the European safety standard type test. - product structure should meet the standard requirements. - specification (German, English) to meet standards.

- English documents such as "structure diagram", "circuit diagram" and "parts list" prepared as required by TUV, and the product test will be conducted according to the parameters provided in these documents.

4. GS certification has strict requirements on the quality assurance system of the factory, and the factory shall be inspected and inspected annually:

- the factory is required to establish its own quality assurance system according to the ISO9000 system standard when batch shipment. The factory should at least have its own quality control system, quality records and other documents and adequate production and inspection capacity.

- before issuing the GS certificate, the new factory shall be inspected for qualification before issuing the GS certificate.

- audit the factory at least once a year after the certificate is issued. No matter how many products the factory applies for the TUV logo, the factory only needs to review once.
