SABER certification for lamps

Saudi standard metrology and quality organization (SASO) has announced the launch of the SABER electronic certification system platform. SABER is an electronic network service tool designed by SASO in conjunction with the implementation of the Saudi product safety program SALEEM to register and issue a consumer goods conformity assessment certificate before entering the Saudi market.

According to the requirements of the Saudi standards agency (SASO), from April 1, 2019, all goods arriving at the port must hold a certificate issued by the SABER system before entering Saudi Arabia for customs clearance. GCC products exported to Saudi Arabia, after March 15, 2019, the certification body will no longer issue COC, products must be registered on SABER system.



SABER system divides the product certification application into three steps:

Product Listing applies for Product registration;

Apply for Product Certification;

Apply for batch Certification of goods.

Products should first apply for PC certificate, and then apply for SC certificate for each batch of goods when they are shipped. These two certificates are the necessary customs clearance documents for the goods to enter Saudi Arabia.

Certificate charges will be collected online by SASO through SABER's system, and SC certificates for each shipment will also be a fixed charge, instead of being charged according to the value of the goods as COC used to do.

To apply through SABER system, you need to prepare the information submitted in advance as follows:

(note) luminaries, whether light source or luminaries, can be exported to Saudi Arabia only after energy efficiency and CB are made, and then IECEE is registered. However, special types of lamps, such as plant lamps, lamp belts, solar lamps and car lamps, are not regulated.

The certification cycle is usually 3-5 weeks
